House Mouse

Identification:
The house mouse has a shorter tail than other mice, it is very variable in colour being grey, brown or almost black and normally the species has a grey belly. Weight 15g; Length 6cm-9cm Head and body, 10cms Tail; Ears Large; Eyes small; Snout pointed.

House Mouse droppings are much smaller than rat droppings are 3-7 mm in length and may often be spindle shaped. Each house mice can produce about 80 droppings every day.

Habitat:
The House Mouse has a wide range of habitats inlcuding houses, coal mines, tower blocks, food factories and shops.

Breeding:
Gestation 21 Days; Weaning 3 to 4 weeks; Sexual maturity 9 to 10 weeks; Litter Size 4 to 16; Litters per year 7 to 8; Lives 9 to 12 months. A mouse weighs 1g at birth and is the size of a baked bean
